I have no doubt in my mind that the work QueerTech is doing is work worth doing. In this moment, I am reminded of a famous quote by one Theordore Roosevelt - or as I know it better, Leslie Knope - “Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.” Of course, I also want to thank my Montreal project leads, Anitha, Vijay, Mitch, Pablo, Diego (again!), Rodrigo and Saul for the same thing! I want to thank all my Toronto project leads, Alessandra, Kim, Ermias, Zabadee, Samarth and Trista for their amazing work supporting not only the nonprofits, but volunteering their time for me as well. I also want to thank Diego for being the ultimate colleague, collaborator, and temporary roommate. I want to thank Andy for being the best boss ever, for helping me learn, grow, and guiding me when I needed it most. That short conversation opened up a world of possibility for me, and I am forever grateful. I want to start by thanking Naoufel for hosting the volunteer info session back in January, where I first connected with QueerTech. On the one hand, I am sad that I won’t have my daily check ins with Andy anymore, or get to be so closely involved with QueerTech as a whole.īut the other, perhaps greater emotion I feel, is gratitude. My time as a QueerTech employee has come to its planned end, and the mix of emotions I feel is real bittersweet. Unlike Sam Smith, I’m not too good at goodbyes, but I really wanted to say something to all the amazing QTs and everyone I’ve been working with these last four months.
